Elected ER.S. 1978
Tom Powell was a master of descriptive neuroanatomy. He knew and understood all parts of the central nervous system, had taught it all and studied most of it. During the more than 40 years of his working life, methods of studying the brain advanced dramatically. Tom used new and old methods critically, he knew the snags, the difficulties and the risks of misinterpretation, was careful to try and avoid them in his own work and quick to spot them in the work of others.
