Please use this Permission Request Form when requesting permission to reproduce material from Royal Society publications in journal articles and books.
Royal Society authors do not need to seek permission for the following use of their own articles: to reproduce material from them in their future works, make copies for their own personal use, use them for the internal teaching purposes of their own institution or company; and make and distribute copies (including through e-mail) to research colleagues, for personal use by such colleagues on a non-commercial, non-systematic basis. Also, Royal Society authors do not need to seek permission from the Royal Society to reproduce material from their own articles in their PhD thesis.
In these cases, an acknowledgement to the original source of the material will suffice. Other forms of reuse by Royal Society authors are subject to the conditions of the Royal Society's licence to publish.
